Your Car Has a Story. Let’s Photograph It.

A man in a jumper and gilet leans against his classic blue MG car holding the leash of his two dogs, set in the rolling Denbighshire hills, North Wales.

A guide to what a classic car photoshoot with me is really like.

Classic cars aren’t just machines. They’ve lived. They’ve been driven, repaired, sworn at, polished, shown off, and occasionally coaxed back to life with a mixture of hope and questionable language. They carry history in their paintwork and personality in every noise they make. If you own one, you already know it’s more than a vehicle. It’s part of your life.

A classic car photoshoot isn’t about posing stiffly next to a bonnet. It’s about capturing the whole story; the car, the memories, the people who love it, and the way it fits into your world.

Why Photograph a Classic Car

Every classic car has a past.

Some have been restored bolt by bolt.

Some have been passed down through the family.

Some were bought on impulse and turned out to be the best decision you ever made.

A photoshoot gives you a record of all of that. Not just the shiny bits. The quirks. The character. The way the light hits the curves. The way you sit in the driver’s seat like it’s your second home. The way your dog insists on being part of the moment. The way your kids climb in and out like it’s a playground.

This isn’t dealership photography.

It’s personal history.

You and the Car Together

The car is only half the story.

The other half is you.

A classic car photoshoot with me is a mix of:

  • portraits with the car

  • lifestyle moments

  • the way you interact with it naturally

  • the people who share the memories with you

  • the small details that matter to you

If your partner rolls their eyes every time the engine needs “a little encouragement”, that’s part of the story.

If your dog has claimed the back seat as their throne, that’s part of the story.

If your kids treat the car like a time machine, that’s part of the story.

It’s not staged. It’s not stiff. It’s your life, with the car right in the middle of it.

Choosing the Right Location

Classic cars look incredible when the location matches their personality.

North Wales is perfect for this because it gives you everything. Mountains, lakes, forests, coastlines, open roads, moody skies, and quiet corners that feel cinematic without trying.

Depending on the car, we might use:

  • a winding mountain road

  • a coastal lay‑by

  • a woodland track

  • an old stone bridge

  • an industrial backdrop

  • a field at golden hour

  • your own driveway if that’s where the memories live

The location becomes part of the story, not just a background.

The Details That Make It Yours

Classic cars are full of details that deserve their own moment.

The stitching on the seats.

The badge that’s older than you.

The chrome that catches the light.

The engine bay you’ve spent hours perfecting.

The imperfections that make it yours.

I photograph all of it.

Because those details are the things you’ll want to remember.

What the Shoot Actually Feels Like

Relaxed.

Unrushed.

A mix of portraits, lifestyle moments, and proper automotive shots.

We move around the car.

We try different angles.

We let the weather do whatever it wants, dramatic skies make dramatic photos.

We take breaks if the engine needs a breather.

We let pets and kids join in because they’re part of the story too.

It’s not about posing perfectly.

It’s about capturing the connection between you and the car.

Why These Photos Matter

One day, this car will be part of your history.

These photos will be the record of the life it lived with you.

They’re for you now, but they’re also for the future, for the next owner, for your family, for the story that keeps going long after the engine stops.

Ready to Tell Your Car’s Story

If your car has personality, history, quirks, or a life of its own, then it deserves photographs that show all of that. Bring the car. Bring the family. Bring the dog. Bring the stories.

Let’s make something that feels like a magazine feature, but with your life in it.
